RAMELLZEE started his writing career in 1974 in the Far Rockaway section of Queens. He wrote under the aliases HYTE and EG with writers like SONIC 002 and the late DONDI White. The A, CC, 2 and 5 lines were among his favorite targets. In the early 1980s RAMELLZEE's work was celebrated in New York City's downtown art gallery scene.
RAMMELLZEE expressed his creativity in a variety of media, including painting, sculpture music, costume design and performance art. His style clearly distinguished him from his peers. His experiments with the abstraction of letter forms expanded upon traditional graffiti art. His work in sculpture allowed him to actualize many of the three dimensional concepts that are only visually implied on trains and canvas. His work is highly collectable and has appeared in many prestigious institutions across the globe. He appeared in director Jim Jarmusch's Stranger Than Paradise as well Charlie Ahern's Hip Hop classic
Wild Style.
RAMMELLZEE passed away on June 29 2010.
