DIME 139 Aliases: THE KID Started: 1972 Primary affiliations: SSB (Queens Division) Local origin: Queens, New York Main lines: Es, Fs, GGs, RRs DIME 139 of the Forest Hills area of Queens, began writing in 1972 under the name "THE KID". His subway painting career climaxed during the mid 1970s. During this period he wrote mainly on the IND and BMT divisions of the subway. DIME attended the High school of Art and Design where he rubbed elbows with popular writers of the time such as BOMB ONE, DON ONE of the MAFIA crew, and SHADOW. He also counted legends such as UNCLE JOHN 178, FLINT..., and SHORTY 13 amoung his peers. His focus on wild style lettering gained the respect and admiration of his fellow writers. He Participated in the creation of the legendary Freedom Train in 1976. In 1977 DIME retired from subway painting.
